The healthiest audit system is one where the bulk of the heavy lifting is done internally. This is key as the more you internalise H&S the more you learn and understand about your business. This then drives and strengthens your H&S culture. However, a crucial additional part is external checks. Different sets of eyes, helps to eliminate any natural bias that might sneak in as well as any blind spots you may have.
