After a heavily disrupted two years, conferences and events are back in season. Here’s our list of all the essential meetings, briefings and other dates for your diary.
8 June – 28 June 2022

ACAD’s summer meetings kick off in the second week of June and run through the month. There are six regional dates, together with a remote event for which the details are yet to be confirmed. Expect networking opportunities, updates from the HSE, licence renewal information, and general updates from Build UK, CITB and other relevant bodies.
This year, the North East Regional meet has a special ‘open afternoon’ format, and takes place at the ACAD headquarters in Doncaster. It’s just 30 minutes away from the Ramside Hall Hotel, site of the following day’s Golf Day and Awards Dinner, so why not come along, meet the Assure360 team, and learn more about what ACAD is doing for its members?
15 June – 7 July 2022

ARCA’s summer regionals will comprise six in-person meetings throughout Great Britain, along with a final remote date held via Zoom. Find more details on the link below, or email info@arca.org.uk to learn more.

NEC Birmingham
The NEC continues to play host to one of the asbestos industry’s biggest events of the year. Designed to showcase the latest innovations that support the detection, management, testing, and removal of hazardous materials and the protection of the environment, Hazardous Materials is just one of four zones at this huge event.
There’s little detail available yet about this years show, but previous attendees will know it’s an indispensable way to catch up with colleagues, discover the latest innovations, and improve your industry knowledge.
16 – 19 September 2022
Dona Filipa Hotel, Vale do Lobo, Portugal
ARCA’s European Golf Event takes place in the Algarve, home to some of Europe’s best courses. Highlights include the San Lorenzo course, and the Ocean Golf Course. Find more details below.
28-29 September 2022
Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre
The second Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live (SHW Live) event of the year aims to reconnect regional occupational safety and health communities in the South of England. It’s set to offer essential educational, networking and procurement opportunities across two days. Like the earlier conference, this free, live event promises the chance to speak to industry experts, learn about the latest innovations and build direct relationships with key suppliers.
18 – 19 October 2022
The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre
2022 sees the fifth annual asbestos conference, organised by the British Occupational Hygiene Society in conjunction with the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FAAM). More commonly known as the FAAM conference, it’s an in-person event, featuring researchers, academics, practitioners and regulators from across the industry.
The 2022 programme is set to include UK and international speakers dealing with scientific topics covering key areas regarding the assessment, control and management of asbestos. There’s also a new ‘digital delegate pass’, offering recordings of all sessions from the two-day event.
7-10 November 2022
Bristol Marriott Hotel
Airmon is the leading international forum for air monitoring. The tenth instance of the event was previously scheduled for September 2021, but has now been rearranged for November 2022. It will build on previous conferences, providing an exciting programme. Thought-provoking keynote presentations will be combined with oral presentation sessions. Presentations from students or early-career researchers are warmly encouraged, and short training courses, delivered by experts in their field, are an integral component of this event.
10-11 November 2022
Van der Valk Hotel Oostzaan, Amsterdam
We’re delighted to be returning to the EAF conference, after its enforced two-year hiatus during the pandemic. It’s a unique event: a place where professionals and asbestos victims alike can go to share their experiences, enjoying networking and social events to help build a close asbestos ‘family’.
Not the least of the experts attending will be EAF founder and president Dr Yvonne Waterman MFAAM herself. This year Yvonne is putting together a conference programme on the theme of ‘Asbestos and the State of the Art’. Expect workshops, and top global speakers profiling new science and innovations. There’s also an exclusive excursion to visit a metal foundry that denatures and recycles asbestos-contaminated steel.
If you’re hosting, postponing or cancelling an event you’d like us to list here, please get in touch.
